Chloe, the girl with the PPE.

Susan says: "I was inspired by Chloe’s beautiful smile, I could see in her expression a joy for life. Getting to know her during the painting process, I soon realised what a special and caring person she is. This picture of her in her PPE suit demonstrates her ability to to put on a brave face and make the best out of a really sad and difficult time. She is a Paediatric Intensive care nurse at St Mary’s hospital in London, her ward was turned into an Adult Covid Intensive Care unit during the pandemic. Wearing PPE for 12 hour shifts with few breaks was suffocating and intense she said and that it hinders communication with the team but she was always high spirited and grateful to have such a wonderful team to work with. Although she is missing her family in Australia, she is very happy that she has been able to help people get well and be reunited with their loved ones. Chloe is unquestionably an NHS Hero!"

Chloe says: "I’m so grateful! It’s absolutely incredible. Thank you so much!!! I love it!! And I love the name of it too! It’s been lovely chatting to you through the process, I’m really thankful, I would be honoured to have my picture in the exhibition!"
