Choir Stall Canopies

Here we can see the picture of two canopies, adorned with fleurons. Originally, these pieces had an important role in the structure of the stone stalls, as they composed each one of their overhanging
coverings, and the fact that they were made from one single piece allowed the lecturers Otero and Yzquierdo to determine their dimensions during their study.
The two complete pieces display very interesting adornments which are different from any seen before, using vegetal decorations and trepan. They were retrieved during the work carried out on the staircase, where they were reused outside in the flooring of the landing between the first and the second flight of the southern stairs. On the other hand, the fragments from the third canopy, which
fit perfectly together, were found at the base of the wall in the north-east corner of the area corresponding to the extension of the crypt in the 17th century.
