This is the new Chortkiv Synagogue. Before the First World War, it was one of the most important centres of Jewish pilgrimage. Every year the chief rabbi came here and conducted services, which gathered Jews from around the world: Galicia, Austria, Romania, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Serbia and Russia. During the Soviet period and until 2013, the synagogue housed a school for young engineers. Now it is closed.
