Ferran Arasa i Subirats (1905- 1992) It could be said that the painter, following a long period of research during the fifties, found the personal language that would define his pictoric output for the following decade. Precisely in this work we can appreciate certain traits that differentiate it from his previous output. The direct and firm brushstrokes have replaced the previous splashes of colour with modernist connotations. In this painting there is a great chromatic and material richness which gives the work presence and volume. An energetic brushstroke and a particular application of colour configure the constructive sense of the work more than the masses and volumes. 2nd Tapiró Painting Award, 1945. Text by Elena Fabra
