“I did this painting the first time I visited the inside of the building. I chose this photo of the singer Christina Aguilera at the point when I was just starting to focus seriously on creating portraits. I didn’t do much in the way of background because when I’m painting in places like this, I like to keep elements of the existing setting – I think the work as a whole gains extra impact if you can still see the wall and the tags behind my picture. I don’t like things to be too neat. This painting has a few flaws here and there, but even today, I can look at it without blushing … early days, let’s say.”
The artist biography:
Hailing from the town of Bayonne, graffiti artist and TWE Crew member Flow has done a great deal of painting inside the Magasins Généraux building in Pantin. He started painting in 2000, specialising in characters ranging from the realistic to a more cartoony style. His work can be seen in a number of French towns, including Paris, Pantin, Bobigny, Nice and Bayonne.
