Church of the Ascension of the Lord

Church of the Ascension of the Lord In front of you is the Church of the Ascension of the Lord, located in the historical district – Znesinnia, not far from the centre of Lviv. If we believe the archaeological research of 1985, this location, also called Svitovidove field, is where Lviv began. Archaeologists found early Slavic settlements and some fossils that demonstrated that humans had lived here since ancient ages. Now there are green hills, among which rises the Church of the Ascension, which was built on the site of a former pagan temple.
