Despite enlisting to serve, Claude Edward Pratt never saw action in World War I. He died March 4,1918 of pneumonia while at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center. Multiple obituaries show that friends and family in his home town of Lindsborg, Kansas remained proud of his service. His photograph, among other items, were provided to the Kansas State Historical Society in 1919 as part of an effort to preserve a record of veterans.
Like other U.S. states and regions across the globe, Kansans have served and died in war. The Kansas Museum of History aims to remember them through what they left behind. To see more about Pratt please visit: https://www.kansasmemory.org/item/225483
