At Mt. Akahada motogama, clay is taken from the back of the mountain and other surrounding areas, then is processed and used to make ceramics. This region has been a prime harvest site for high-quality clay since the ancient period. Excavation surveys conducted nearby have revealed Kofun Period kilns which were used to produce haniwa (earthenware tomb sculptures).
