Under the captaincy of Clive Churchill, the Australian Kangaroos overcame Great Britain in the 1950 Ashes series. Nicknamed the “Little Master”, Churchill was known for his on field performances and his attacking style and is considered one of the greatest rugby league players of all time.
The Clive Churchill Medal awarded to man of the match in the NRL grand final is a tribute to his legacy. In 1986 the SCG named the Clive Churchill Stand in his honour.
