A perspective view of Ismail Begmuhammad High School on Mohammed Ali Road in South Mumbai. The façade of this Art Deco building, an Urdu medium school, is blanketed in a sunburst and pyramid motif. This repeating low-relief motif, executed in plaster, is part of the tropical imagery repertoire popular in Bombay’s Deco. Under a row of such relief work stands pearly white lettering in Urdu that spells the school name.
