Cloud chamber photograph of disintegration of a nitrogen atom

This picture of the disintegration of a nitrogen atom taken by P M S Blackett (1897–1974) using a cloud chamber was taken to be evidence that protons were constituents of all nuclei. A cloud chamber allows the paths followed by some particles to be traced.
