In Jon Benoit’s 'Clowns & Clowns', four women and two men dance, dressed in grey gowns and clowns’ masks. The decor resembles the solitary confinement that can be found in a prison or a psychiatric hospital. The uncontrollable movements and sounds of the dancers –laughter and screaming – emphasize the disordered state that these people are in. However, even though the scene is surrealistic, some of the often rude or unreasonable behavior, reminds us of interactions we encounter in everyday life.
