Sieciech was a palatine at the court of Władysław Herman. He is the first known individual, outside the ruling dynasty, to have minted his own coin. Two types of denarii associated with Sieciech are known. Both types display the “Palatine sign” on the obverse and the inscription ZETECH, while the reverse features either a knight’s cross (Type I) or the palatine’s monogram (Type II). These coins, minted in the late 11th century, are extremely rare, with an estimated 200 specimens nationwide. Over 100 coins of Palatine Sieciech form part of the treasure from Słuszków.
