"Colonial House" is built on the principle of ambiguity in the figure-background relationship: there is no front and back, even if in certain parts this is barely perceptible. In fact, it is the title of the work that gives us a reading key. It is only this paratextual information that allows us to orient our vision to the recognition of architectural forms that, while still maintaining their structural function, are dominated by a sense of instability. This sensation is determined by the number of elements that are subjected to an incessant movement in both directions, horizontal and vertical: curves and counter-curves, straight lines that transform into curves. Nothing stops on the surface. Only two human figures are recognizable in an uncertain foreground, while another merges into the swarm of lines and colors that dominates most of the painting.
