Installed on this Comet 3B (XP915) was a version of the PACE TR48 analogue computer, used by the Blind Experimental Landing Unit (BLEU) to aid research into the first automatic approach and landing systems for aircraft. Once a new control system had successfully passed operational tests in the laboratory, the program would be passed on for a real-world test flight using the modified TR-48 on the Comet 3B.
