Hungarian military officer with his decorations. According to the valid “Jewish Acts”, the guards and the command staff of the labor service companies had to be “pure” Christians. In contrast to the progressively deprived Jewish forced labor servicemen, they wore uniform, rank insignia and decorations. Beyond indicating the actual hierarchy, this increased the self-esteem of the guards toward the forced laborers.
