The Valongo Wharf is a tangible record of the largest port of landing of enslaved Africans in the Americas. This project includes the conservation of the wharf’s surviving stone pavements, structural reinforcement of walls and foundations, and other measures recommended by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee for this World Heritage site.
