Goods literally traveled the globe to reach Fort Vancouver, which stocked English, Scottish, Chinese, Bohemian, Italian, and German imports. Ships also stopped in the Hawaiian Islands to resupply and trade. Great quantities of coral were acquired there and brought to the fort to be manufactured into mortar. Some specimens were never processed and retain enough of their structure for the species to be identified.
