The altar was originally owned by the Heinzelmann family, whose house the annual Corpus Christi proces- sion used to go past until around 1960. Corpus Christi, a solemnity celebrating the Eucharist, or Last Supper, is held on the 60th day after Easter Sunday. After Holy Mass the monstrance containing the host as a representation of the “Body of Christ” is carried through the village or town in a procession which involves the ministration of short services at up to four temporary altars.
