This work is representative of the painting-collages that Paula Rego developed during the 1960s and 1970s, strongly influenced by Jean Dubuffet and art brut. The figures are initially drawn and then cut out, thereby constituting the plastic material for the composition. The painting acts as a link or concealment of the glued elements, endowing greater ambiguity to the represented image.
