This costume was designed by Director Peter Brook for his 1955 production of Titus Andronicus. The dress, coat and shawl were worn by Actor Vivien Leigh, playing the character of Lavinia. The costume is a full-length, fitted bronze dress with shoulder straps and a low-cut bodice. The dress is pleated from neckline to hem with gold braid around the waist and under the bust leading up to a heart shaped brooch in the centre front. The robe is a full-length green robe with pleated neckline and back. It has large gathered sleeves decorated with 3 pleats, gold buttons and a double gold chain. A long cream scarf trails out from the shoulders, trimmed with strips of red ribbon.
