Coulee Dam, Wash. Two 65,000 horsepower motors, each weighing more than 330 tone and second to none in size and power, are now being installed at the Grand Coulee Dam here by engineers of the GE Company in co-operation with the Bureau of Reclamations. The stator for one of the motors, above is being installed in a pump pit at the dam's pumping station. The energy output of the motor will be transmitted through a 16 foot shaft, foreground, to a pump capable of supplying the daily water requirement of a city the size of NY.
