Yasuyoshi Amano (then, 13), a first-year junior high school student, was inside his school about 900 meters from the hypocenter when he experienced the atomic bombing. His mother, Ryoko (then, 39), was waiting for her only child to return home and didn’t learn where he was being kept until August 7. She soon left to get her son, but there was a large hole under his ear and his whole body was bloodied by heavy injuries. Ryoko and her parents tried their hardest to nurse Yasuyoshi back to health, but he died around 8 am on August 8. These items were at his home where Ryoko had kept all of Yasuyoshi's other belongings close to her while continuing to lament Yasuyoshi's death until she died.
