‘When I paint my country, I first paint the background of the painting in different patterns of browns and reds, the colours of our ground. Then I paint the colours of the trees, plants and flowers against this background. My country in spring has many flowers among the spinifex; you see lots of purple and cream Mulla Mulla along with the emu plant with its bright orange and yellow seeds, plus many other flowers.’ The artist paints her country from an aerial perspective showing the patterns of colour and the variations of landscape as if looking down over the land (Yinjaa Barni Art) © Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory
