From the first months of 1923, Xul Solar began to organize from Europe to exhibit in Buenos Aires. In those brief news to his family, he informed them that he had begun to paint larger works, among them perhaps "Pareja" (Couple). The prominent place given by Xul Solar to this piece, which he exhibited on four occasions during the second half of the 1920s, speaks precisely of a work that was intended to be exhibited, and that this was the purpose that determined its size.
