Covered Wagon

A covered wagon, like this reproduction, on the Oregon Trail contained all a traveling group’s prized possessions, equipment to start a new life, and necessities for the trip. Wagons needed to be light enough to avoid overly tiring the animals tasked with moving them. Items thought essential at the start of the trail were often abandoned as the trek became more difficult.
