A modern and resurgent India arises out of a vast variety of cultural traditions. No single art style depicts India’s array of classical and folk art and craft. India is as contemporary in its outlook as it is ancient in its traditions. The artist has delved into ancient cultural histories to create an offering to the greatness of India’s craft traditions. She depicts women with earthen and metal pots, pouring water. On the second side Kabir, the famous weaver-poet operates a golden loom that weaves fine muslin into water as did his ancestors before him. The images on both maps express the timelessness and utility of crafts.
