An illustrated cross section showing life on Sable Island. The illustration includes part of a fence from an exclosure for the Fences in the Sand project.

One horses is grazing on marram grass outside the exclosure. Two circles show a bird and a bee, examples of animals and insects that thrive in the vegetation on the island. There are many horse hoofprints in the sand.

At the back of the illustration is a fence that is part of an exclosure around an area that the horses cannot access. The marram grass and plants in the enclosed area are much taller and fuller than the area where the horses are grazing.
