An illustrated cross section of Sable Island showing how the fences in the sand project fences interact alongside the species of the island.
Illustrated by Sydney smith, this artwork shows a cross section of one of Sable Island’s sandy beaches and its crystal clear water, the sand of the beach then slowly turns into grass which is short. Then the fence divides the grassy area, and on the opposite side of the fence the grass is tall and topped with wildflowers. Five seals laze about on the beach by the water’s edge as a seagull flies overhead. In between the seals and the grass a mare and foal explore the sandy shore and hoofprints from previous horses cover the beach.
