On October 4, 1957, a crowd of over 13,000 people gathered outside the Avro Aircraft plant in Malton, Ontario. They were anxiously waiting to catch a glimpse of the fully assembled aircraft that many of them had had a part in designing, planning, and building. Even before its first flight, the Arrow’s sleek appearance (and hefty price tag) drew a great deal of attention from the public and the media.
