At the Dressing Table

Innocenti had been greatly influenced by stays abroad and regular meetings with remarkable cultural figures of the time, such as Giovanni Boldini and Gabriele D’Annunzio. In this painting he evokes with an exquisite lightness the atmosphere of Parisian Belle époque. The protagonist is an educated woman portrayed while she is fixing her hairdo at her dressing table full of small sparkling containers, by the light of a small lamp while a small dog at her feet is wagging its tail and playing with the plies of her rich dress, unveiling her graceful little feet.
