“This doorway hints at the rest of the façade, which Popof, Marko and I were in the process of painting. A star, set apart from the rest – a free electron. I was aiming to create something that would be visible by dint of its colours, which would be at once both lively and discreet. There was also something slightly poetic about the star. While remaining a separate element from the main painting, it was still a part of it.”
The Artist biography:
Dacruz started out in graffiti at the end of the 80s, but did not become prolific until the early 2000s. His style is easily identifiable and suggests a sort of universal language, one that brings together naïve and primitive worlds with the contemporary urban jungle. Concentrating on legal graffiti that frequently shades over into street art, he exhibits his work and takes part in numerous urban culture-related events. In 2012 he, Popof and Marko were given access to the Magasins Généraux building in Pantin and went on to paint the façade as part of the “Eté du Canal” summer festival.
