Despite competition from small-format (35mm) cameras, the box camera remained a popular camera for medium-format film well into the 1950s primarily due to its low price. Contact copies were able to be made from the relatively large negative which saved on costs for an enlargement. Advertising emphasized the attractive design of the camera body with its rounded corners and the available range of colors.
