A SIX-MONTH-OLD pig, which a grocer reared as pet, is a regular customer at Sussex inns. For Belinda - that's what 32-year-old Mr. Guy. Woodman, of East Lavant, Sussex, christened her - likes her beer. The picture shows her at the Victory Inn, Arundel, her "Friday-night" pub, as Mr. Woodman lifts her up for a glass of bitter. Belinda enjoys her night out and is well-known, too, at many another inn at Arundel, Chichester, Pulborough, and Hornington. Mr. Woodman, who breeds pigs as a hobby, disagrees with Judge Fenwick, who criticised pigs during a divorce hearing at Carlisle on Friday. Said the judge: "A pig is the last creature for any person of common sense to have as a pet. However endearing its manners may be, its habits are deplorable." He may be right about most pigs," Mr. Woodman said yesterday. "But there are exceptions." "Belinda-a Wessex saddle-back has perfect manners," he said. "She is stunted, and since she was born six months ago I have had a soft spot in my heart for her. "She follows me about like a dog and eats from my hand." Her loyalties are not restricted to the hand that feeds her either. For, much as she loves to go places in her master's little Ford van, Belinda will not budge unless Albert Foster, 45-year-old lorry driver and friend of the family, is a member of the party.
