Dajehru pair, crafted in Awadh, studded with precious stones (including emeralds at the centre or kshana) and wrapped in little Basrah pearls. Its gold att (chain) also contains tiny Basrah pearls.
Worn by Kashmiri Pandit women for auspiciousness in marriage, this ear ornament is a yantric embodiment of the incorporeal, timeless union of Shiva and Shakti. Its three elements are a pair of hexagonal gold tablets, known as dejhoor/dejhor/dajihoru/dajehru; a pair of long gold strings called atah/ath/att; and a pair of short thread clusters (athoor/atahoru/atehru) hanging from the bottoms of the two gold tablets.
