Ravi Varma's Damayanti has been shown in various scenes of hapiness, despair and distress. Artist Jay Varma, a sixth generation descendant of Raja Ravi Varma and his great, great, great grandson, takes a cue from his illustrious ancestor and portrays his version of Damayanti lounging on a tree by the riverside. In many ways, it shows the Varmas fascination to use Damayanti as their subject and Jay gives it his own spin of his protagonist in the 21st century.
