Sudhir Khastgir was a sculptor and painter who trained under Nandalal Bose at Santiniketan. Like his peers, he drew inspiration from rural life and the local Santhal community. He is celebrated for the lively portraits of Indian dancers that he often executed in various mediums such as oils, drawings and murals.
Khastgir was awarded the Padma Shri in 1958.
