Bronze Death Mask of Napoleon Bonaparte in a faux leather lined wooden case stamped in three places with red wax seals. The mask is copy from a mold made of Napoleon's face upon his death. Inscribed on the mask are "Dr. F. Antommarchi" and "Susse F. Res". On the bronze plate on the top of the box is written, "DEATH MASK OF NAPOLEON BONAPARTE BY DR. ANTOMMARCHI FROM PRINCE PAUL DEMIDOFF SAN DONATO COLLECTION 1880", the plaque was manufactured by Tiffany & Co.
This is the version of the mask that is seen beside the sarcophagus of Napoleon Bonaparte in France. There were several cast in bronze from Dr. Francois Antommarchi's cast. Some speculate Dr. Antomarchi's version may be different from English doctor, Francis Burton a surgeon who was present at the time of Napoleon's death on the island of St. Helena.
