LEE Yun-seok, Holder in Intangible Cultural Heritage no.7 Goseong Ogwangdae, Master of Maltugi Dance
Maltugi-chum, in which LEE is a remarkable specialist, originates from the character called Maltugi, a sort of jester who satirically performs the exaggerated gestures and behaviors of aristocrats in Chosun dynasty. LEE’s Maltugi-chum is sometimes straight forward with confidence and smooth movement, as if the dancer is making calligraphy with his body. His dance exudes strong energy, which is embodied and elaborated by precise motions and manners. He is a true templar indeed.
