Fontainebleau school. Design for two salt cellars. The base of the left salt cellar is made of intertwined bodies, and a pair coupling under a watchful mask. On the top is Cybele, the many-breasted goddess of fertility, wearing a turret crown and surrounded by animals. The base of the right salt cellar shows sphinxes, pearls and a grotesque mask. Above is Neptune with his trident, in a reclining posture, accompanied by his horses.
