Arch for Arch is an architectural structure commissioned by Design Indaba that commemorates the work and life of one of South Africa’s most celebrated figures, Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Commissioned by Design Indaba and supported by Liberty, the #ArchForArch project celebrates its namesake Tutu (lovingly nicknamed “the Arch”). Its design is meant to be a physical representation of his strength and resilient humanity. The #ArchForArch also celebrates the South African Constitution. The structure consists of 14 individual arched beams of wood, together forming a dome. Archbishop Desmond Tutu s a South African Anglican cleric and theologian known for his work as an anti-apartheid and human rights activist.
