An ingeniously-designed gradual change of several up to five shades, alternating or from light to dark displays an impressive effect of color change from white to light purple, or from white to blue, on a satin foundation of mineral blue. With the use of various techniques including satin stitches, layered stitches and flat stitches, long and short stitches, pad stitches, etc., these neat and freely-flowing stitches create an impressive relief-like effect to the embroidered patterns. And it is speculated that the embroidered peony flowers on the while-ground cuffs were crafted by a different artisan and sewn onto this garment, based on its different style and embroidery techniques with those of the floral patterns on other areas of the jacket.
