As a Venetian-born artist, Lino Tagliapietra has been polishing an innate gift for glassblowing on the island of Murano ever since he was a young boy. Now an esteemed and widely influential master glassblower, his celebrated style draws inspiration from water and aquatic creatures. Using a sophisticated technique applied to the multi-coloured mosaic glass Vetro Murrino, the small tesserae melt together at the fusion stage to create a wonderfully vivid melange. Relating the perceived strength of the dinosaur with the fluidity of the fish and animals found in the Venetian lagoon is a reflection of the recurring malleability of mother nature.
