BelAZ-540 (1965, designed by V. Kobylinsky) Dump truck with payload capacity of 27 tons, the symbol of the 'big construction' in the USSR, was created in just one year. V. Kobylinsky first implemented a hydropneumatic suspension of wheels and a general hydraulic system for power lifting and trunk lifter - this brought a golden medal at the international exhibition in Leipzig in 1965. The characteristic layout of this model with its driver's cab slightly moved to the left is stil used by BelAZ vehicles.
