This dish, made with the repousse hammering technique, depicts the story of the marriage between Shiva and Parvati. This event is known as 'Kalyanasundara' in Indian mythology. Shiva is shown holding Parvati’s hand in marriage with Vishnu acting as Parvati’s father and Brahma standing with folded hands near Shiva. The repousse technique is employed on the reverse side of the metal to form a raised design on the front, giving a continuous flow to the imagery on the surface.
