During the centuries of Gothic (from the 13th to the 15th) the Cathedral of Saint Peter in Vic was enlarged and beautified with numerous works of art placed at the service of worship. Most of them were due to the initiative of the bishops and canons of the Cathedral. Especially outstanding is the 14th-century cloister and the old high altarpiece, carved in alabaster by the sculptor Pere Oller (15th C). Another important work done in the 15th century was the choir, unfortunately destroyed by the fire of 1936. Only one of the ceremonial seats has been preserved, now on display in the Museum together with other vestiges of the Gothic Cathedral. The Cathedral high altarpiece is Pere Oller's masterpiece and is one of the great Catalan stone altarpieces of the 15th century. This altarpiece is conserved in its entirety in the Cathedral except for the two doors that flanked it, which having lost their original function have been deposited in the Museu Episcopal de Vic. The leaf of the doors is 19th century.
