Cristabel says: "Rather than just copying a photograph, I sought to embody the spirit of Dr Tony. I asked lots of questions to try to feel the essence of the person behind the photograph, what matters to him physically, emotionally and spiritually and sneaking in symbols of this into the ground of the painting. I also asked Dr Tony to curate a playlist of music that's meaningful to him - markers of time throughout his life and listened to this throughout whilst painting - the idea being to tune in and saturate the paint vibrationally through sound waves."
