Monk Fahai imprisoned the White Snake's (Bai Suzhen) husband Xu Xian in Jinshan Temple in order to stop their marriage. When the White Snake arrived at the temple with her maid Green Snake to save Xu Xian, Fahai called heavenly soldiers to fight with them. The White Snake got angry and asked the Dragon King of the Eastern sea for help, then he sent a troop of sea goblins and flooded the temple.
