Draugen

The mythological Norwegian sea monster riding from the ocean, a cormorant is flying away from it. Draugen is an evil ghost or spirit of someone who has drowned at the sea. It is a warning that something bad will happen if you see or hear it!

Holmboe grew up in coastal Northern Norway, where he was told dramatic tales from the sea, including horrible stories about draugen.
