Michelangelo Jesurum, an Italian lace manufacturer, established a lace school at Pellestrina outside Venice in the 1870s. The school made lace in a range of historical and contemporary styles, and Jesurum introduced new types of lace, including in 1877 multi-coloured silk bobbin lace, like this bodice front.

Jesurum et Cie sold a wide range of products in addition to lace of their own manufacture, including needle lace made at Burano, and also performed repairs and reproduced antique lace.
